NumbersUser.com - Mission Statement and Overview

Hi Numbers community:

My name is Michael Cruz, and my goal is simple--to make NumbersUser.com your source for Numbers news, tips and tricks, templates, links, and all things Numbers.

Many of us in the Apple community have been waiting for a robust spreadsheet program for the Mac (anyone happy with your Mac version of Excel?). My goal is to make NumbersUser.com a resource to help you get the most out of this new iWork component.

BACKGROUND:
I've been a fan of Apple's productivity software for some time now. When I went to business school in 2002-2003, I used Keynote to dazzle my MBA classmates (you know, the PowerPoint wizards and Excel quant gurus). But, it was the help of a template from KeynoteUser.com (thanks, Brian) that helped me maximize my use of Keynote and made my classmates' jaws drop.

When Numbers was released, I figured Brian or someone else took on the challenge of creating a resource site for Numbers (PagesUser.com already existed for the Pages community). Naturally, I went to NumbersUser.com. To my surprise, the domain name was available, so I took it, and here we are today.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU:
I teach at San Jose State University's marketing department. At SJSU, we always preach to our students to listen to the customers, figure out the benefits they will receive by using your product/service, and do your best to deliver what they want.

So, what do you want from this site? Please let me know as this site is a "work in progress." I am happy to cater to your needs.

From my perspective, I'd like one aspect of this site to be a resource where people can upload or provide links to their Numbers templates that they've created. As we contribute to this library of templates, we can figure out which ones are the best and offer them for download to other NumbersUsers.com community members.

So, whether you are in the finance department of your company, a business school student, a wedding planner, a real estate agent or loan officer, a travel agent, or someone who loves showing and analyzing data, please contribute a template or two to this web site.

Let's make Numbers the de facto standard for spreadsheet work on the Mac.

Happy spreadsheets,
Michael

Thanks for setting this up.

Question: Can anyone figure out a way of adding error bars to points on a chart?

Request for a template: A more flexible mortgage calculator - one that allows a variable loan period. If I pay $X per month, how long until the loan is paid?
